8 Reasons to Keep Smiling

Sure, smiling feels great… but did you know it’s actually good for you too? Smiling helps to relieve stress, elevate your mood, boost your immune system, and even lower your blood pressure. In addition to caring for your teeth, we want to give you a few reasons to show them off every month.

That’s why we’ve created Reasons to Smile.

This monthly series will feature a collection of really good, wholesome happenings without any serious emotional topics involved. If there’s a subject you’d love to see in future blog posts, leave us a comment for the chance to be featured!

Here are your 8 reasons to keep smiling.

  1. Good Friends and Promises Kept
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in about 292 million. But what about the odds of keeping your word for nearly 3 decades? In 1992, two friends shook hands and promised that if either won the Powerball jackpot, they would split the winnings. Last month, one man bought the winning $22 million dollar ticket. The best part? When told that he was now $11 million dollars richer, the second man (an avid fisherman) asked, “are you jerking my bobber?”
  2. Cute Animals
The Columbus Zoo recently welcomed an adorable new baby giraffe, who loves his “zoomies,” aka those bursts of energy that make animals run in circles for no reason.
  3. Love in All Its Forms
Since 2008, Brides Across America has been gifting weddings and wedding gowns to military and first responders. To date, they’ve gifted 24,000 wedding dresses. Now, they’re donating gowns to support the marriages of frontline workers. If anybody deserves a happy ending, it’s them.
  4. Random Acts of Kindness
At a Mexican Restaurant in Mississippi, a stranger’s good deed inspired 78 others to pay it forward — literally. For 2 hours straight, cars in the drive-thru of Taco Sombrero in Gulfport paid for the car behind them. We’ve just decided that this is called “paying it backward.”
  5. Animal Crossing
If you’re one of the many who’s joined the Animal Crossing craze, you know how relaxing and just plain enjoyable the game can be. In Taiwan, police officers used the game to get a lost Nintendo Switch back to its owner. That’s definitely worth an island invite.
  6. The Little Things
For ‘the littlest entrepreneurs” whose lemonade stands have been impacted, Country Time is giving $100 to the smallest of small businesses. Now that’s the American dream.
  7. The Perfect Way to Release Your Frustrations
Has the news lately made you feel like screaming? Now’s the time to release your pent-up emotion… in… Iceland! Haven’t we all just wanted to scream into the void at one point or another? Well now, you can!
  8. Opera. And…horses?
You just have to watch this one.
