Dr. Merchant is a graduate of Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry and knew early on that a career in healthcare was his calling. Raised in the small town of Shelbyville, Tennessee, he developed a strong passion for the health sciences in high school—one that only deepened as he pursued his education. He earned his undergraduate degree double majoring in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in Mathematics, confirming both his love of learning and his interest in advancing technologies in healthcare.
He chose dentistry because of its unique blend of artistry, engineering, and patient-centered care. Dentistry’s constant evolution and the individuality of each patient make it a profession that continues to challenge and inspire him, allowing him to grow while serving his community in meaningful ways.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Merchant’s greatest pride is being a “girl dad.” He and his wife, Amber, are the parents of two incredible daughters who are his greatest source of joy and motivation. When he’s not spending time with his family, he’s following all things football—especially cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
